EDIT: A reader wrote in and explained the Lance Armstrong situation in more factual manner: “Lance Armstrong did not use prefermance-enhancing drugs, he did what is called “blood-doping” where he waits until he has a higher number of red blood cells, and then banks some blood in say, Spain. And then partway through the Tour-de-France when he has a day or two’s rest, he feeds that blood back in his body.
